The time has come for us to take a look back at another luxury vehicle from the past. Today we are looking at the Cadillac Brougham sedan, which was marketed as a full-size luxury car.

Luxury cars are definitely not a recent thing. Ever since first vehicles began to emerge, the super-rich wanted something extravagant to spend their money on. This resulted in the luxury car market coming into existence. Hundreds if not thousands of different luxury models have been produced over the years, with a number of manufacturers such as Rolls-Royce making it their speciality.

The “Brougham” name has appeared numerous times during Cadillac’s history. It was first used on an enclosed hose drawn carriage and later on an enclosed sedan. In the 1970’s the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham was introduced however it wasn’t until 1987 that the “Fleetwood” name was dropped and the Brougham became its very own model.

Whist the Fleetwood became a completely new, smaller front-drive model, the Brougham took over the large sedan spot as it looked pretty much identical to the Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham.

The Brougham was already quite luxurious as it was, however an extra-luxurious “d’Elegance” package was available allowing people to transform the vehicle into an even more luxurious one.

A great example of a luxury sedan, the Cadillac Brougham offered quite a lot to its customers. It was a very luxurious vehicle and the optional package that it came with allowed the super-rich to further improve the comfort and luxury that the vehicle had to offer.

It wasn’t the most luxurious car ever produce, definitely not, however it did offer something slightly unique to similar cars available on the market at the time.

The Brougham marked Cadillac’s final car to be built without airbags.

It proved quite popular with customers and although it didn’t stay in production very long, having been discontinued in 1992 after only 5 years, it managed to make a lasting impression.

To this day, the Brougham remains a favourite among luxury car enthusiasts today.
