McLaren has decided to release a Spider variant of their flagship supercar which will come over a month after the reveal of the Speedtail.
McLaren 720S Spider
The British supercar manufacturer McLaren has released a trailer of the upcoming 720S Spider. This is the answer to the open-top Lamborghini Huracan and Ferrari 488. The McLaren 720s spider will be the second model launched as part of Mclaren’s £1.2bn business plan. Shortly after following from the speedtail unveil last month.
Interestingly, there were some drawings of the 720s spider model released onto the internet back in October. These were showcasing the design. Moreover, these drawings show that the model may lack the rear end found on the 650S.
So, based on previous models we do not expect the convertible to receive a power boost or an increase in performance change in general. Additionally, with all supercars in this class, the 720s is built upon a carbon body which makes it light, stiff and without the need for reinforcements with the roof missing. In result of this McLaren drop-tops have similar performance to the hardtops with a slightly more weight thanks to the folding roof.
The pricing is entirely as expected with the 720s starting around £210,000 and the spider variant at £230,000. The McLaren 720s Spider is to be revealed on December 8th. These prices are extremely high and what you would expect for such a car. Although if you can afford one of these and might need to sell another car to reach your budget then try out here.
Last year the 720s took the automotive scene by storm bettering its predecessors in every way. With more notably the straight line performance. Also the McLarens 710bhp twin-turbo V8 and it’s a slippery design which nothing in its class can match.
